What’s holding you up?
By far the majority of our walk today was on pleasant solid ground, modern concrete and some ancient cobblestones. But there was a relatively short section that was far from solid, at least from my perspective.

Hidden in plain sight
As soon as I saw it, there was a jolt of joy and recognition of something familiar. The gaze, the placement of the hands, the legs and feet of John. Maybe if you zoom in on the photo you’ll see it too?

Why revisit the road to General Conference 2019?
In 2019 I decided to slow down my drive to the special called General Conference and take a more prayerful, intentional approach. I needed to remind myself of why I do this work as an organizer for Reconciling Ministries Network.
It's 2024 now, five years later and I had found myself needing that reminder again.

About the road to General Conference 2019 revisited
It's been nearly two weeks since I returned from my journey home from St Louis, retracing the steps and churches I visited on my way to the special General Conference in 2019.
In 2019 I was literally driving to St Louis to go to the special called General Conference, from my home (at the time) in Weaverville, NC. I had opened Google maps, set the destination of St Louis and then told Google to avoid highways. A route was set for me (I love technology, and maps!)
I’ve had a website for a while now… I am notoriously bad at keeping it updated. I’m still in the process of loading my old posts to the Archives page. The topics may vary, but in general, I continue to ponder what it looks like to connect with people who are having inclusive thoughts in unexpected places. Much love to all, Helen. 🙏🏻 ❤️ 😊
