Naming my privilege... that helps me take cookies to Trump supporting neighbours safely

I've been pondering my previous post/video where I talked about taking cookies to my Trump supporting neighbours. It's been on my mind that even the act of taking cookies to my neighbours bears witness to the privilege I enjoy. Namely...

  • I am white.

  • I have an accent many people find enjoyable.

  • I live in a quiet, residential area, with single family homes and an extremely low crime rate.

So for me, taking cookies to the neighbours was a pretty low risk activity. I am aware that for others, the risks could be higher.Does this mean I shouldn't have done it? Of course not. It just might not be the best way for everyone to take action in their neighbourhood.
